    Texas Flower Gardens Photography Advice

I'm headed there next week. I haven't been before but going with friends that went last year. The coral spawn is at night so I would think it would be macro Last year they saw a lot of mantas and ha,merheads Oil rigs you would want wide angle for perspective. I would be prepared for both

Short Notice Offshore Rig Diving Trip Tomorrow May 2nd out of Freeport TX

$250/diver is not bad for 40 miles offshore. If he were lucky enough to get 1mpg it probably takes 100 gallons after cruising between sites, etc. Plus all the other expenses related to keeping up a boat and crew. Most fishing boats in the gulf charge $300/head to go that far offshore just to...

    BVI dive spots

We are renting a power cat in BVI this summer for 7 nights. This is an unguided trip and we set our own itinerary. Plan to dive every day and have been told we can moor on various dive spots during the day. We have a book that lists most sites in BVI and describes each for a dive briefing. Has...

    Jamaica Spring Trip

Have been diving in Jamaica several times, always in Negril which is supposed to be the best they have to offer. While its not Cozumel it is as good as diving in some other places I have been such as Cancun and Utila. As others have said not a dive destination but worth diving while you are...

    Specific taxi question

If there are several of you one person could stay with the bags just inside mega on the lower floor I suppose. I would hate to drag all my bags up the escalator

Exchange Charge USD to Pesos at Banks

I would use the ATM over exchange too but as others said make sure its a bank atm. Mega and Chedraui have them as well. Make sure you call your bank before you leave and let them know you will be using atm card out of the country. My bank waives atm fees charged by other banks so that's not an...

12 days in late July in Cozumel with 2 kids, 14 & 16, - which resort to select?

We did a surface interval at the Ocidental last week. Looked like a nice place if you wanted all inclusive and beaches. Had a dive shop on site, 2 or more pools, a water park for kids, organized activities, etc. We only spent a few minutes walking around but seemed like a neat place for families...

    Dive Op emailing.

I have had similar issues. Seems they come and go with various ops. I had one op I dove with a few years ago and had communication issues via email. Was persistent enough to finally get booked and dives done but seemed like a lot of work. So dove with another valet service. Explained to that...

How much booze can you bring into Mexico?

Also remember you may have to pay extra for the weight depending on your airline and their baggage limits for the class or status your flying.

12 days in late July in Cozumel with 2 kids, 14 & 16, - which resort to select?

I haven't stayed at any resorts there that have the activities you listed but they exist. Scuba Club Cozumel may be one you want to check out though. While they don't have a sand beach you can shore dive there. They also have pool and are close enough to town that you could probably find the...

    Who is borrowing my Yacht?!

strong enough to use a 120?

I am 6' and about 170#. I dove with the them using the 120's. I was constantly fighting to stay face down. I had zero weights in my bc. They stepped me down to the next size tank and everything was perfect. Never had any air issues, in fact I think I used more with the 120 trying to stay trimmed...

Cozumel and other Caribbean destinations re lionfish

I was on a live aboard doing Roatan/Utila about 3 years ago. We speared dozens if not hundreds of lion fish. I was unimpressed by the reef fish populations and thought the dives were rather boring except for one wreck dive with some large grouper on it. Since this was my first trip there I can't...

Nassau Grouper Stalks and Eats LF - Unaided by human

85 every time I have seen a snapper, grouper, etc eat a speared lion fish it had to be fed off the spear. the dm would bump it up and down with shaft so that the fish would finally take it on the fall. sort of like fishing with a jig.

    March Roll Call

Awesome Lorenzoid hopefully we will see yall there. I think she said they will pick us up across street at Aldora pier.this will be our first time to stay in town. We have always stayed from Scuba club and to the south so will be nice to not have to rely on taxis for food or diving.
