Agree remote, head to WA. Rowley Shoals is one of the worlds most beautiful and remote dive spots. You can only get there by liveaboard and they only operate certain months of the year. Lucky for you april is in season.

Snorkels are good for drinking games in thailand, or anywhere for that matter. Very helpful for snorkeling as well. Not recommended at the same time.

PADI does allow an OW diver to do the rescue course. They can be taught the confined water skills section. Thats what my instructor manual states.
