This is my cross post from www.nwdiveclub.com for a long long long overdue trip report from Campbell River this past Memorial Day '23 weekend. We had bad vis near town but up north in Seymour Narrows (home of 15 knot currents on big exchanges) we had some phenomenal diving.

We headed up across the border Thursday before the holiday to take advantage of some good tides for diving Seymour Narrows with Earl at Abyssal Diving. Unfortunately the water quality in the Straight of Georgia was spring bloom terrible so the visibility at the town sites was not good. Luckily the water up in the narrows was much better and we enjoyed 30 to 40 ft vis on our three dives at the Pretty in Pink site. The currents were minimal so Matt and I got over 4 hrs of bottom time which allowed a lot of exploration. We went deeper than in the past and found a whole different environment with lots of reds, oranges and yellows due to the robust sponge and red soft coral cover. The rest of diving closer to town was not as memorable due to the bad vis but we still had fun diving with the usual Campbell River marine life such as strawberry anemones, nudis galore and lots of various other invertebrate life.
