I recently had the chance to dive the barracuda lake in Coron/Palawan: what a strange place: a salt water lake not directly connected to the ocean, with a 30C - 37C (!) thermocline at 10 meters. At 20 meters the otherwise great viz turns into a muddy soup.

I would love to learn more about the geology of the lake - what makes these thermoclines?

I could not find any info online, so I'd be grateful for links/sources/...

Thanks!
