Dried, not canned, canned/jarred has preservatives and sodium you dont need
High in protein, Good carbs, low fat
and Cheap.
with the increased corn prices leading to increased meat prices, I've found I can use beans in lieu of or with meat to help defray costs. Another strategy is to get a can of "healthy" soup and then add some beans to bulk up the meal a bit.
