But my tank choice is 100% based on my ability to trim them out.

We go with smaller backgas tanks, and sling more air if needed.

Hp100's are mostly cake. Hp120's may be easier, or worse, to trim and reac the valve. Hp80's are wonderful for short divers with heavy feet.

As for HDG, it's wonderful only if you have a LDS with a decent hydro guy. Nothing is nicer than nearly new tanks failing hydro due to moronic scuba policies.
