We are delighted to announce that Dewi-Nusantara will be hosting Dr. Mark Erdmann, Dr Gerry Allen & Sarah Lewis for 2 unique and dynamic cruises in 2016.
Dr. Mark Erdmann is the Vice President of Asia Pacific Marine Programs for Conservation International, with a primary focus on providing strategic guidance and technical and fundraising support to CI's marine programs in the Asia Pacific region.
Dr. Gerald Allen a world renowned Ichthyologist, who after a long established career as a Senior Curator of Fishes at the Western Australian Museum in Perth now works as a private consultant. Primarily involved with coral reef fish surveys in Southeast Asia for Conservation International.
Mark & Gerry will make a welcome return back on-board having conducted scientific research surveys from Dewi-Nusantara in 2013.
We are also delighted to welcome the expertise of Sarah Lewis. Sarah founded the Indonesian Manta Project in 2010 and is Indonesia country lead for the Manta Trust. She is now also embarking on a PHD with her primary research focused on understanding the highly threatened manta populations in East Nusa Tenggara, and addressing the immediate threats from targeted fisheries. You may even be able to watch some Manta tagging in action!
Mark & Sarah will join cruise 1616: 22nd July - 02 August 2016, Bali - Komodo (Benoa - Bima)
Mark & Gerry will join cruise 1617: 03rd - 14th August 2016, Komodo - Maumere (Bima-Maumere)
Join them as we hope to head off the beaten track on the hunt for some undescribed and exciting new species.
Guests will be welcome to assist with this research.
Mark, Gerry & Sarah will present dive briefings and seminars in the evenings to share their plethora of knowledge and vast scientific experience in the conservation of our beloved seas and in particular the Indo pacific.
Imagine being on a trip where history is made and a new species is found! If that is not excitement enough, if a new species is found on one of these trips it will be named after Dewi-Nusantara!
This is the absolute opportunity of a lifetime for all intrepid and budding divers, marine biologists and anyone with a passionate interest in Ichthyology.
Both of these cruise are included in our 2016 Summer Savers offering a 10% discount off the retail price, a saving of US$600 per person in a deluxe cabin.
Book your spot now and be part of scientific history in the making aboard Dewi-Nusantara!
