Difference between PADI and SSI

You can do advanced/specialty classes with any agency. The agency you go with depends upon your comfort with the instructor and LDS as well as what is available in your area. As long as you are diving and learning, you are doing the right thing.
 
I feel that if you do not feel like you got a good education in your first dive class you may want to redo your class or if you are in the middle of your class and you do not have a good connection with your current instructor you should change instructors. PADI or SSI... you need to connect with your instructor. Some students need more time and instructors need to work with them more to get them comfortable and proficent with their OW skills.
