En estado grave tras sufrir un accidente de buceo en Castro. El Correo

In a serious state after suffering a dive accident in Castro

A 31 year old female from Getxo was yesterday admitted in a serious state to the Hospital of Cruces after suffering a cardiac arrest while diving in the waters of the Castro Port. The woman was rescued by beach lifeguards. A medical team from the DYA treated her with a cardiac massage for 20 minutes until they regained a pulse.
The accident happened a little before 6pm in an area known as San Luis Solarium wharf, on the beach front Brazomar, popular with swimmers and scuba divers. It appears that the young woman was participating in a diving course when the accident occurred. It is being investigated if a failure of the oxygen tank could be at fault or if she suffered some other type of accident underwater.
Beach lifeguards were alerted to the situation and of where the young women was, entering the water to rescue her. They managed to remove her from the water but found that she was in cardiac arrest. Two ambulances from DYA arrived to the scene of the accident, in the Port of Castro. The emergency medical team treated her with a cardiac massage for twenty minutes until her heart began beating again, according to information from the DYA. The young woman was evacuated in a serious state to the baracaldés hospital. After completing several tests, Emergency Services determined the extent of her injuries and she was admitted to Intensive Care.
