The mask & primary second-stage regulator being removed by a diver in a panic situation remind me of a student diver bolted to the surface, caught on video. Luckily it's only from 50' deep & the instructor saw her panicking & intervened.

Maybe I'm off base, but why would the DM stop to do an optional safety stop when chasing down a distressed student? Doesn't that sound odd to you guys?

Was he really doing a mandatory deco stop or something?
 
@kelemvor. I am with you on that one . A safety STOP is only there as a NON MANDATOTY stop. So when there is an emergency, any safety stop potentially becomes s**t stop. :stirpot:
