First thing first:
Huge thanks to all for their replies!

Diving Doc:
There is another alternative called the IST Pro ear mask. This has covers for the ears and has proved very popular amongst people who have ear probs at my dive centre
Nice yeah, i wish i knew about it before i got my 100-dollar atomic mask :rofl3:
Anyway, i dive mostly in Long Island and New Jersey so i wear 7mm suit with the hood and soon to be using dry suit exclusively throughout the year. And that pro-ear mask requires a proprietary hood, which is not awailable in dry version.
So Pro-plugs for me i guess. I already got a fitting kit from Leisure pro. It's just 3 blocks from me.

sorry bud, just thought it might be a nice alternative to sticking things in your ears! Hope they work out for you and you get rid of that irratating sticky ear thing

I am just hoping this year will be more productive for me, in terms of number of dives, than the last.
I gotta try that mask anyway. I will see if anyone has one locally. This way i'll go to the pool and give it a comparative trial as in Pro Plugs Vs. Pro Ear mask. If that happens i will post my thoughts.
Thanks for bringing it up!

My Mother uses Docs Pro plugs, because changing water temps in her ears seem to give her realy bad Vertigo. make sure you get the "Vented" ones. Cheers...

Ohh look i was wrong: http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=proearhoodist

I love what they say at the end of the product description:
This hood will keep you so warm, the guy on the left is ice diving totally naked other than the mask and hood.... Pretty impressive eh?

:rofl3:

I guess ear shrinkage isn't a problem with that setup.

OMOH,
If you go the proplug route i absolutely second the idea of getting the red ones and more than one set. I've lost track of my clear ones too many times.
Tom Winters:
They're great. Get the fitting kit and then order up a couple of pairs of the ---> red vented plugs. The clear ones are too easy to lose.
I've used the 'Ear Beer' recipe, referenced in the second DAN link posted by PriusDrIVER, with great success both here in Wreck Valley and in the Caribbean as well

Thanks to all for their feedback on ProPlugs!

I see you are from NJ; do you belong to any dive club?

Simple (& cost effective:wink: )solution to ear infection problems......

Before entering the water use a little olive oil in the offending ear/s BEFORE they get wet. BTW Ask any ENT specialist, olive oil is non irritant to the outer ear.

This works for me & I had constant problems, even an operation & since I have started using the oil.....no problems.

Try it!!
