1st Annual Mt. Storm & Scavenger Hunt
Hosted by: Washington Scuba Center
Where: Mt. Storm Lake
Who: Open to all certified divers
When: October 10, 2010
Times: 10:30 – 4:00 pm
• Arrive around 10:00 (to allow time to adjust to the altitude & register)
• Pumpkin Carving 12:00-2:00 (judging 2:00, prizes 3:00)
• Scavenger Hunt 11:00-2:30 (prizes awarded 2:45)
• Potluck Meal 2:00 (bring a dish to share)
• Light-up Pumpkins w/glow sticks & fun dive 3:30 to view
Entry Fee: $20.00 for Pumpkin Carving Contest, Scavenger Hunt Free
(ALL entry fees will go to support improvements at Mt. Storm Dive site)
Top Prize: Oceanic Veo Wristwatch Dive Computer! Many other great prizes from Washington Scuba Center, and our sponsors.
Note: We will have pumpkins available for purchase from a local farm stand if you need to buy one at the site.
PUMPKIN CARVING RULES
You provide your own air, tools, pumpkin, and glow stick (don't forget weights for the pumpkin--they're buoyant)
You may use only dive tools/knives to carve your pumpkin.
No pre-drawn designs, you may have the pumpkin hollowed out.
You need to do all carving underwater on the platform.
You must take your entire pumpkin underwater with you.
You must finish carving & bring pumpkin to judging area by 2:00.
Divers under 15, must be assisted by a certified parent.
Prizes will be given for:
Grand Prize – Best Overall Pumpkin
Best Scary Pumpkin, & runners up
Best Dive Theme Pumpkin & runners up
Best Traditional Pumpkin & runners up
(note: each contestant can win only 1 prize, so the grand prize winner will also be the “Best” in 1 of 3 categories)
SCAVENGER HUNT RULES
• You must work with a buddy to find items.
• Each team may retrieve two items (so that each buddy may have a prize)
• Do not retrieve more than two items.
• You will be given directions (coordinates & clues) 15 minutes prior to entry to allow you to plan your dive.
