UK has begun offering some Global Entry people their equivalent "Registered Traveler". You need to register through the UK's web site. Not perfect...
A friend got his approval in email just a while back and then confirmed with his passport in hand when he went through LHR a few months ago. No problems. I applied (and paid) last year, was provisionally approved in May, and when I went through LHR last week (and again yesterday) they had no record.
You basically get to use the biometric passport gates in UK airports that have them. Can change a 45-90 min wait in LHR to 5 min.
