Well, that was the sticker price.. What I actually got was:

TransPlate Harness and SS Backplate
2x Large Weight Pockets
Crotch Strap
Rec Wing

Total: $638

So although I may have gotten screwed a bit, its not as bad as it first seems :D

Still looks too high...are those pockets filled with gold to be worth ~ $200? :D

Yes, Halcyon charges extra for the brand name.

The best price I've seen for a Wing that's comparable to Halcyon's is OxyCheq's. Scubatoys carries them, and they offer a discount for scubaboard members. Hammerhead has a great price on BP/STA combos too... $100 for both last I checked, plus a little bit more for the Hogarthian harness and hardware.

DSS makes quality gear too, but it's rather unlike the Halcyon BP/W on several points. Definately check it out though and see if it appeals to you.

DSS has solid gear. Golem has solid gear. Oxycheq has solid gear. Salvo has solid gear. None of these costs anywhere CLOSE to what Halcyon or OMS charge.

If you want to build it yourself, you can get everything but the wing for $150 or so from most people, then just buy a wing and put it on.

My complete Halcyon Pioneer setup, plus a full hose kit, plus shipping didn't cost $600.

Yup, it's an Halcyon Eclipse priced at $675. Am I just paying for the name, or are there comparable products for less?
I have two bp/w with the big "H" on them and a DSS single wing setup.
Here is a hint (I never use my Halcyons) I HATE the PLATES!
The DSS Plate has a rubber/plastic molded inserts that keeps the harness adjusted, tight and in place.

To me, the extra saving are well worth it. :rofl3:

The DSS Wing isn't shiny like the Halcyon so if you’re into cool, spend the extra cash.[/FONT]

I already had my wing from my Scubapro s-tec bc setup and I bought my OMS BP system with harness from leisurepro.com for like $230..

You can find the wings cheaper on ebay but for the most part they are pricy..

My aluminum BP, SS BP, Aluminum STA, SS STA, 35# DiveRite wing and Oxycheq 50# wing with harnesses didn't cost $600.00, even if you throw in the DUI weight harness...
