Never ran into it in person, but I've heard there's an old-school mariner's superstition that bananas on a ship (sailing vessel?) are bad luck. There are posts here on SB from people who have encountered this recently on dive boats.
 
I'm a true rookie to diving (getting OW cert next week), but I do a lot of running, mtn biking, skiing and soccer and have always dealt with craps for years. I regularly drink a lot of water and the day of the activity, I stay extra hydrated and yet I still get bad cramps in my legs. The solution I found was a product called Sport Legs.

I'm sure I sound like an infomercial for them, but they really work for me and I recommend them to anyone who, is in shape, hydrates well, but still has cramping issues.
