We lived in Indonesia for 10 years and have done Manado, Wakatobi (when it was new, rustic and cheap) and Bali. We are coming back for a vacation and leaving the kids with friends so have just 7 nights. Any ideas? Dont think R4 doable in that time frame. Komodo? Resort, LOB?

Thanks

Carol

Hi Carol,
something different? Lembeh Strait!

When are you traveling? R4 can be a bit seasonal, but the Dampier strait is doable year round. There are non-stop flights from Jakarta into Sorong and from there you could catch one of the resorts speed boats and do 5-6 days of diving. I just read a Scubaboard report from someone who did 7 nights, but she also mentions it definitely wasn't long enough. With 7 nights you'll only get to see a small part of Raja.

Komodo on the other hand is much smaller than Raja and although 7 nights still isn't a lot of time it is doable, and again based on when you are coming you should be able to get a good sampling of Komodo's amazing dive sites. Plus there are flights operating from Bali daily.

We'd love to have you aboard, but we only do 10 nights trips round-trip from Bali. Depending on your accommodation preferences there are basic to deluxe 5-7 night LOB and land based resorts, I'm sure someone will have some recommendations soon .

Wherever you end up enjoy your dive holiday!
