Looking for a few bits of info. My wife are planing a trip to the west coast with a few days of diving. We are experienced divers but would appreciate the way around in the water. If doing 2 days of diving who would go with and where? we would like to do 2 tanks ea day. We have our own gear but would want steel tanks for weight reasons. Also would like to do one day of shore diving and the other off a boat. Thanks again.

The Monterey Bay has a number of dive sites that provide protection from the swells and easy entries (San Carlos Beach, McAbee Beach, Lover's Point or Otter Cove). Several charters also operate in the area (Escapade, Silver Prince, Beach Hopper II, Sanctuary). You may rent gear from multiple shops in the San Francisco or Monterey Bay Area. If you have not dived in cold water, the majority will recommend hiring a dive guide to show you around the are, and at minimum, get a cold water diving orientation.
