CLUTE — The body of a diver who went missing in Mammoth Lake has beeen recovered, authorities said.
The identity of the 62-year-old man, who Clute Police Chief James Fitch described as "not local," is being withheld pending notification of family.
The chief verified an autopsy and check of the man’s equipment would be performed to establish the cause of death.
According to reports, the diver entered the water about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and had not returned.
A Mammoth Lake representative at the scene said they had no comment on the incident. The site is a man-made, private lake which is used as a neutral buoyancy training facility and scuba park.
Clute police called in the Houston Police Department's dive team to assist in the search after initial efforts to locate the man proved unsuccessful. The Houston team routinely trains in Mammoth Lake, Fitch said.
No details were provided about who and where the man was found.
