I'm looking at getting a Hollis Neotek Semidry suit and I'm falling between sizes according to their size chart...I'm 5'10"...215 lbs...Chest 44"...Waist 43"...Hips 41", Not sure if I should get an Xlarge or XXlarge....this chart is right off Hollis's site

You're best bet is to try them on (if possible). I ended up having to get a two piece (farmer john and shorty) of two different sizes, XL shorty and L farmer john.

The LDS has them but they are more expensive than I can get online....don't really wanna go in and try some on and walk out

Are they more expensive than getting them on line and having to ship them back and reorder if they're the wrong size?

How were you planning on fitting a 43" waist into a 37" or 39" opening? In your case, the brand may not have a fit for you.

Considering I've lost 32 lbs in the last 10 weeks and still dropping, it's probably a good idea to hold off anyway, I am not yet certified, need to do the written exam (next week) and final dives, I'm just anxious to get my own gear....not into the renting thing, no rental equipment would be maintained in the state I'd keep my own stuff, I'm really like'in the Hollis and seems to serve my purpose in the NE...need to put the credit card away :depressed:

Congratulations on that!

Renting and trying out are two different things. The reason I bought every piece of equipment I own was that I tried them out first (many during my pool sessions and checkout dives) before buying. Tell the LDS that you want to buy your gear, but would like to try them out first. I'm pretty sure they'll go along with that, IF, you buy from them. The premium they charge is for that service they (should) provide.

The front door of your LDS and the person standing inside is worth the extra money (usually). Try it on, get their input, ask for a better price. in the end a living breathing sales associate and the inventory in your hands beats saving $20 any day of the week!!

Why not?!? Do you also buy a car without test driving it first?
