Currently, 100,000,000 sharks are being killed annually for shark fin soup, and if this continues sharks will face extinction, and the ocean ecosystem a huge tragedy once the apex predators are removed.

But, the good news is NY is about to do something about it! Legislation is on the table to ban the sale of shark fins. The state would join California, Hawaii, Washington, and Illinois in banning this unsustainable and cruel trade.

If you live in NY, please take just 20 seconds of your time to send your senator/assemblyman an email. It really does make a difference!

100,000,000 million, that is a lot of sharks. Where does this number come from?
