So, somehow the recent upgrade to SB has caused me to find my very first SB post in March of 2006...

So here's what I've managed to amass since getting started recently...

Reg: Aqua Lung Legend LX
Alternate: Airsource 2
Computer: Suunto Cobra, w/SK7 compass and QR
BC: SeaQuest Balance
Wetsuit: Xcel Vortex 3/4/5, plus 1mm hooded vest
Dry: Bare Trilam Tech Dry, hard boots, dry hood, CT200 undies
Mask: TUSA Visualator
Fins: TUSA Tri-Ex
Boots: Deep See

Told my wife that as a mid-life crisis scuba diving would be cheaper than a new Porsche - now I'm realizing that it really depends on which model Porsche you're talking about?

The only thing there I still own and dive with is the Aqua Lung reg. (And I have spent W-A-Y more than the cost of any Porsche on training, gear, and dive travel in the last five years!)

How quickly things change. Here's a post from two months later...

A fool and his money... were lucky to get together in the first place!

Just picked up a BP/W set-up, as well as some gear for my upcoming wreck course...

  • Dive-Rite SS backplate,with Deluxe harness,
    Dive-Rite Rec Wing and LPI
    Halcyon ACB weight system
Halcyon 60lb semi-closed lift bag and backplate pouch
    Halcyon Pathfinder reel

Was able to get in the pool with all of it the other night to tweak it all before taking it out in open water. With a drysuit (no undies) and no lead I was perfectly neutral, maybe even 2-4 pounds overweighted. Was nice to have so much "less" than with a BCD, even a back inflate.

That's pretty cool. About 2 years after I had been certified, I found my old OW manual and on the inside cover was the list of recommended gear my instructor had shared with the class on the first day. My kit matched it exactly. Kind of fun to see.

rjp...

OT: *gasp* you are the first American I've seen who actually spelt "ridiculous" right in a forum!

Sorry I just have to say it.
