Last week we set out for a 3 day trip. One day for travel and two days worth of diving in the Gulf of Thailand. We did a few 65 meter dives on a wreck that we found out to be a 600 year old pottery wreck. There was both Thai pottery and some blue and white chinese pottery on the site. There was no actual wreck there other then some wood pieces from the keel. Click on the link to view are discovery. I have contacted the Thai archeology department and the pieces we found will be turned over to them to help with there research. The Thai archeology department has a awesome museum where you can see many artifacts that have been found here in Thai waters.

It is great to hear divers are working with Thai archeology department & the reverse. I imagine many would be tempted to keep these items.

It's great that you are saving these pieces from certain destruction from drag net fisheries.

Cool story, thanks for sharing it! What is the figure on the 5th pic, the broken plate labeled 'Ming Dynasty'? Can't quite make it out.

Must have been one excited surface interval!

Actually the best way to find anything in the ocean is to speak to the boat captains. If the boat captains snag anything in there nets they will log the gps location so it does not happen again. Amazing how far some cigarettes or a couple beers will go to these guys that have been out to see for a week. Alot of the stuff on the surface is broken up from the nexts and it will get barnicles growing on it. Some of the best stuff you have to dig underneath everything and the sand to find some really good clean stuff. I have seen jars that looked like a newly shined bowling ball and it had been down there for 400 years. The blue and white pottery pics i am taking close up pics of the drawing on the side and see if we can find out some more history of this wreck. I will send the pics to some specialists to get some more details. I am waiting to hear first of August if I will get a job on a research vessel around Asia. I will be training the crew mixed gas diving and hyperbaric courses while looking for wrecks. Does not get much better then that.
