NFSA News

The NFSA BOD had a productive meeting at the Orange Grove pavilion at WSPSSP this afternoon. The meeting also served as our annual members meeting, and we appreciate the turnout from our membership base. The most exciting news was the election of Mike Stine to the BOD to fill one of two vacant positions. Additionally, the BOD appointed Mike as President. Also,re-elected to the BOD were Kelly Jessop and Bobby Frankin whose terms expired this year.

During and after the meeting, we had preliminary discussions for 2016. This included Martz Sink step repairs (more to come), ECO-Day, the Advanced Skills Seminar, membership, and our outreach projects. We also discussed the newsletter. We have not had a newsletter since the second quarter but will issue one newsletter per quarter in addition to other communications via social media. You will hear more about 2016 in the near future.

I would like to thank a few faces of the NFSA. First, a huge thank you toKelly Jessop. Up until June of this year, he had been your president for a long time and then some. Through his leadership and countless hours, he has help make the NFSA what it is today. Also, thank you to Linda Rennaker Strait and Jon Bernot. They served on your BOD until the third quarter of this year, and we appreciate their contributions.

The NFSA has been fortunate to have many volunteers to help meet our annual goals, and we much appreciate giving your personal time. We could not do it without you. We hope that you can continue to help. For anyone else, if you are interested in helping please let us know.

I hope you all have the Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

NFSA membership information

If you are not a current member of the NFSA, you can join for as little as $15 a year - less than lunch for one or two. Go towww.northfloridaspringsalliance.org and click on the paypal link. Membership will get you admission to our annual workshop, our quarterly newsletter, and the satisfaction that your dollars are helping the Florida springs. So whether you like to observe, paddle, swim, snorkel. or dive the springs and their rivers, membership to the NFSA is for you.

And BTW, did I mention the award winning Interpretative Trail at Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park? It was built by and enloyed by members like you.

Thank you for your support!
