If you've been to the Keys, Bonaire, Curacao and other dive destinations, you may have been lucky enough to see tarpon underwater. The silvery torpedoes are awe-inspiring as they cruise by confidently.

How many of us have seen tarpon in Texas waters, though? The Silver King was once so abundant on the Texas coast that the town we now call Port Aransas was formerly named Tarpon, TX. The town's motto then was “Where They Bite Every Day.”

What happened to the Texas tarpon fishery? Why did the population decline so significantly and what can be done to help restore their numbers?

Find out the answers to those questions and more at our Nov 30th meeting (a slightly later date than usual) where we will be joined by Erik from the Texas Tarpon Collaborative who will tell us about how their conservation, habitat restoration, and education efforts are making a difference.

Find out more details including the Zoom login info at this thread.

Change of plans y'all. Tarpon are out, diving in Colombia is IN! Come join us. The link above still works for more details.
