We read some unfortunate news in the media about Peacock,Madison, and Troy Springs State park being targeted for closure. We understand that each department in Florida government conducted an exercise to cut their budgets by 15%. Although this was only an exercise,of the 53 parks marked for closure,Peacock,Madison, and Troy were included on this list. All cave divers have a certain attachment to these parks, and we would like to inform the people who make decisions about the parks they are responsible for, how we feel about them.
Many representatives are far and removed from these parks, and some people have asked who could they contact to express their feelings.

Do you plan your vacation to these locations?
Do you live in Florida, but got there in lieu of a vacation to other locations?
Do you experience the ecotourism in these parks?
Do you spend money in the community?
Would you recommend a higher entrance/activity fee?
How many visits did you make to each park in the last year?

The NFSA thanks you

Greetings Fellow NFSA members please take a few moments to compose a letter detailing the reasons why in your own words you wish to keep the diving parks open.
It is going to be important to get these letters out and in the right hands ASAP!
We all need to step it up to keep Peacock, Madison, Troy and the others diving parks open.
It is very upsetting to think of these locations being lost to diving.
The current status of legislative bodies acting on things they have little or no personal experience with.
One such for example is the current state of cave diving in Wisconsin.
A quick search would reveal the fall out of not being proactive instead of reactive!

CamG Keep diving....Keep training....Keep learning!

Great comments. Also, this isn't just for NFSA members, but everybody,if you want these parks open we need volume of correspondence.

I see this thread has been dead,I guess overshadowed by the Sanctum movie. I am looking forward to seeing the movie, but I am looking more forward to doing some cave diving. If you want to have a place to dive, your help is needed, because the more voices these people hear the better. Even out of state people will have a huge impact on a tourist driven state.

My letters went out this morning.
