UPDATE: Diver ID'd in fatal accident
A Pensacola man was killed in an apparent diving accident on Pensacola Beach on Thursday afternoon, according to Escambia County officials.

Around 12:58 p.m., beachgoers found Gary Martin Wise, 57, on the shoreline about a mile east of the Park East area, officials said. Wise was found wearing scuba diving gear and pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, as is standard procedure.

According to a Sheriff's Office spokesperson, Wise had a wife and two daughters.
