Poor vis. Blazing heat. Nothing unusual found. Glad we went diving.

We don't have air conditioning at home. It doesn't get hot enough for AC in West Torrance many days during the year. Today was one of those days when we did not want to stay home. I used a hose clamp to squeeze our rigging in place so I could shift the starboard motor while we wait for the mechanic. I had no trouble shifting today, but the motor quit twice. I had to loosen the hose clamp because it was crimping the fuel line. If it's not one thing, it's another.

We finally made it to Golf Ball Reef where we enjoyed great visibility just two days ago. We had dark, dirty water today with barely eight feet visibility. We didn't explore far from the anchor so nothing out of the ordinary was seen.

You had 8 ft viz on Sunday!? Consider yourself lucky! We dived the LA Harbor breakwall looking for abandoned traps, and at times we had maybe 5 ft viz, worse than that at least half the time. Adding to the challenge was our scooters (my Blacktip, buddy's Piranha) weren't speed matched. Her slowest speed with the Piranha was my speed 3. Somehow we managed to stay together and even bigger surprise was we found and removed 2 abandoned traps (one was a gimmee because we saw the line and followed it). It was miserably hot above water, I think we endured a really awful dive just to beat the heat.

The day before a different buddy and I did a shore dive at County Line beach. We went out a long, long way to hit 45 ft deep, but were rewarded with really cold, really clear water, tons of life and great structure. Close to 30 ft viz. It just goes to show what a difference one day makes
