Fanning Spring would be a good choice. Spring boil is no more than 15ft deep, depending on water level. I was there in Dec. nice little place.

but my husband and I don't have the technical skills to be able to do something like that. The best we'd have been able to do is follow her to the surface and regroup there. Until we all have more experience diving, we're planning to hire private DMs so that we can all treat the dives as learning experiences and not be the blind leading the blind, if that makes sense.

Your family will have a blast there. Devils Den is an awesome entry level dive. Something to consider while you move your kids fwrd in there training, is invest in a good Rescue diver course for the two of you. This will help with watching and solving issues before they happen and getting you both better prepared to watch each other. It was one of the best courses I have taken. Don't worry about the agency just find a good instructor to work with you.
