Shipwrecks/2009 Symposium

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below is a press release for our 15th Annual Shipwrecks Symposium. We have an excellant line up this year and I'm sure you'll recognize most of the names on the list. We are still looking for several short (5 minutes or less) shipwreck related programs to be as fillers throughout the day. We are also looking for door prizes and will be sending out beg letters shortly.

Please spread the word about the show and if you would like to donate a door prize let me know. Look forward to seeing you there. Ian

Shipwrecks/2009 Late Registration & Updates
________________________________________
Late Registration Procedures

Due to the fact that a hot buffet lunch is provided, we greatly appreciate pre-registration so we have a better idea of how much food to have on hand. However, due to the delay in the mail, please DO NOT post registrations later than Monday, March 23, 2009.

After March 23rd, you may still register on-line until April 1st.
SW2009 Registration

After the 1st or if you can't register on-line, you may phone (905) 382-2389, or register by e-mail <marshal2@vaxxine.com>. You will receive a confirmation of your registration by phone or e-mail stating that your tickets/name tags may be picked up and paid for at the pre-registration table.

Walk-Ins

We confirm the food order 24 hours prior to the event. At that time, we order for 40 people more than we have registered to cover those who register in the last 24 hours. Unregistered walk-ins are allowed (seating is not a problem); however, if we have more last minute registrations and walk ins than we have meals for, different coloured name tags will be issued and lunch and refreshments will not be included. No discount applies. There are restaurants and fast food outlets nearby. Doors open 8:00 AM; Show starts 9:00 AM sharp.

Latest Updates

The NDA has always been noted for our calorie replenishment program. We have always taken pride in the food we have served at our events. This year Chef PaulÃÔ catering from Welland Ontario will again be supplying the food to the same standards that we have had in the past. This is being done on a per/head basis, which is why we can only order a limited number of meals beyond the number we have registered. A full 25% of our ticket price goes directly to meals and refreshments.

As in the past, speakers will have tables set up to meet & greet, sell videos, books, sign autographs etc.

We have now hit a new milestone when it comes to door prizes. For the first time ever, we now have more than 100 door prizes (over $10,000 value) and the list is still growing. This includes items such as regulators, drysuits, HID and regular dive lights, dive charters, books, DVDÃÔ, gauges, clothing and more.. A complete list can be found at

A number of non-profit groups will also be setting up displays. Save Ontario Shipwrecks, Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, Great Lakes Historical Society / Maritime Archeological Survey Team, Ontario Underwater Council, Welland Scuba Park, John Date Project, Cleveland Underwater Explores and Ontario Diving.com have confirmed. The City of Hamilton will also have a Hamilton & Scourge display.

The Fort Erie Underwater Recovery Unit has once again applied for a lottery license to run a 50/50 draw at this yearÃÔ event. 50% to the Lake Erie (Eastern Basin) Mooring Project, 25% first prize, 15% second prize and 10% third prize. If all tickets are sold (3 for $5.00) a total of $1214.00 will be given out in prizes with an equal amount donated to the project.

Back by popular demand, the NDA will also have a limited number of Shipwrecks/2009 T, Golf and hooded sweatshirts available for sale. T-shirts (med, large, x-large) - $17.00, T-shirts (2x-large) - $20.00, Golf shirts (sm, med, large, x-large) - $27.00, Golf shirts (2x-large) - $30.00, Hooded HD Sweat shirt (large, x-large) - $32.00, Hooded HD Sweat shirt (2x-large) - $ 36.00.
Finally, for our US customers; Due to the extreme fluctuations between the CDN & US Dollar {+5 to -25%} in a short period of time, we have found it hard to fix a firm US price. Our US pricing represents an approximate 15% discount but we strongly suggest you check with a bank or currency exchange, as it may be beneficial for Americans to pay in Canadian Dollars either by mail or by using our on-line registration. Our on-line registration ticket sales include a $2.00 service charge to cover transaction fees but may still be less expensive, as the exchange rate offered is normally within 1% of the current bank rate and ensures the fairest price possible.
Looking forward to another great day.
