Koh Tao has a very thriving technical diving scene. It is centered around the MV Trident technical liveaboard (soon to be replaced by a larger boat).

Jamie and Stu that run the Trident are pretty famous for their wreck exploration in the Gulf of Thailand, especially the discovery of the USS Lagarto. So much so that Chatterton and Kohler have chartered their boat several times.

Whilst most tech diving takes places from the Trident, there are several other tech training schools on the island. In particular, Big Blue Tech have been developing a wide range of courses (tech, cave and CCR) over the last few years.

Thanks for that Andy, the poor old Trident has now been retired and rests at 34m to the south of Koh Tao. As you say, there is a thriving technical scene here, but decent tech dive sites which to me , mean wrecks in 50-80m of clear water need to be reached by live-aboard. Our season is april- october. Out of season we can offer training and some deep dives locally, but they're not exactly world class!

The cave diving around Thailand is getting better and better as new places are being explored - if you're into caving , that is.

Our new boat, MV Giamani, arrives in April, so Koh Tao will be able to offer some world class wreck diving again
