Being onsite and involved, I was told it was their first open water dive and from my patient, her last.
They were lucky you were there to help them. I presume from your referencing her as patient that you are a medical pro in addition to a scuba instructor? Your profile says something about systems?

So they both were revived okay? Too bad their intro to scuba went so badly. My first three dives ever were ignorant Caribbean Discover dives, not knowing what I didn't know, but went well luckily.
