I am looking for anyone with suggestions for best underwater communications equipment for a police dive team in Florida.

And any information on prices would be appreciated.

Are you looking for hardwire or thru water?

Most companies are more than willing to come out and demo the products for you, I would not go on recommendation alone.

Here are some links to thru water systems:

Here is a link to Kirby Morgan, you may want to consider using hard wire communications if you dive your guys tethered anyway. (OTS can also configure for hardwire and has an excellent strength / comms. tether available)

Contact me if you have any specific questions,

I dont want to teach you to suck eggs, but you have to take into account the conditions you will dive in.

I am a member of Lincolnshire Police Underwater Search Unit in the UK. We use a through water comms unit called Buddy Phone, manufactured by Ocean Technology Systems of Costa Mesa, California 92626, http://www.agamask.com/
We find that this system is more than adequate for our needs.

I did my training with another police force using hardwire comms. This was easy to use, but I found a drawback in that it was liable to feedback when being wound in or when wet!

If you have any questions then get back to me.

Finally, it isn't my decision, but how about one or more of your team comming to visit our unit in the UK? We are only a part time unit, but train weekly. If you are interested I can see what we can arrange.

Happy diving!!
