The Coast Guard medevaced a 38-year-old diver 26 miles northwest of Anclote River on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received a call at 12:33 p.m. via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 from a boater aboard the 28-foot boat, All the Way, stating that 38 year-old Nick Lichatz ascended rapidly from a dive and was in need of emergency medical assistance.

A flight surgeon, from Coast Guard 7th District, Miami, was notified and recommended Lichatz be medevaced.
