Vilamendhoo, Kuredu, Ellaidhoo OR Gangehi?? First time to Maldives. HELP

Thanks Christian for the mini trip report.
Ye the "bang for your buck" in terms of diving definitely seems to be limited in the Maldives. The cost is what has kept me away so far.
I live in Singapore so have been spending tons of time in Indo where you really do get bang for your buck!
But as you say as a family, tropical paradise island get away with some diving thrown in.... well I suppose the Maldives is something you have to do at least once in your lifetime.

Glad to hear Ellaidhoo was not too bad. It definitely is one of the cheaper options.

As a side-note, there were quite a few diving return-guests. One British couple did their 19th trip to the Maldives and the last 12 had been to Ellaidhoo. I asked them "why?". They replied "the diving". So I guess if you're going to the Maldives, can't go on a liveaboard, the diving in the nearby area combined with the house reef makes E attractive compared to many other islands if diving is your main worry.
