Anyone on the island hear anything about the weather next week - particularly towards the end of next week??? Know that is still a few days away and the forecasts always change but right not the weather channel has 80% rain starting Thursday & for the next few days after. I know with the weather channel their forecasts can change minute to minute so wanted to see if anyone has heard anything local. We will be on the island by noon tomorrow!!!!!!

Only people who lie more than politicians are weather forecasters (ok maybe it's a tie). Dont know about the forecast but will bet it will be better than staying home in Texas! Rain seldom cancels a dive trip, somehow most everyone gets wet anyway.

When are you heading down? I am heading down Thu to dive Fri and Sat. I checked out the weather forecast and saw nothing that concerned me. The forecasts now for next weekend not of much value unless they are predicting a big storm, which they are not. 80% chance of rain not much to worry about yet . . . it likely means 80% chance of a passing shower in a 24 hr period. TK

I'm sitting at home in East End now and it's raining. That is not at all unusual, as passing showers happen almost every day this time of year. It might absolutely pour rain in West Bay and be bright and sunny in George Town... isolated pockets of rain are the norm.

You can see the Cayman Doppler Weather Radar online which shows the typical scattered pockets of rain across the Western Caribbean.

Looking at the broader Caribbean Weather Radar there is a system to the southeast of Jamaica that looks like it could bring an all day rain even to Cayman in a couple days. And a broader system, probably a Tropical Wave, is just clearing the Windward Island now. That is worth watching as something likely to bring an all day rain with possible development into something stronger.

Its summer. So anyone on the island can expect heavy rain or thunderstorms for a short time at any point. Thats about all they can forecast. Its the tropics so tropical thunder will happen somewhere.

Sat looks like the worse day of the week, starting midday with higher wind gusts. Try to get you diving in before then. I just emailed an op re a potential boat dive Sat PM and he said based upon the forecast he may pull his boat after the am dive on Sat.

Yup, unfortunately a tropical wave is affecting the weather. We arrived Thu to sunshine but had showers on and off. More so yesterday raining most of the day with a brief period without rain yesterday afternoon. Has been raining hard all evening, through the night and now in the early am. Forecast does not look good for diving today. Dove yesterday on the north wall and although rain on and off the diving was very good. Hoping to get out for a two tank am . . . . we shall see.

PS and the boat loaded but called last minute with a big passing squall. More to come. Oh well.

So sorry to hear that and I hope it clears up soon, but you are on vacation in a fabulous place and you are not on a liveaboard- so I hope you will have a great time anyway. Below are some links I've collected about things to see and do on Grand Cayman, perhaps you will find some activities of interest.
