will we need heavier boots like in Bonaire to be able to comfortably do the shore dives in curacao?

Many of them are beaches with real sand unlike Bonaire...
At a lot of those the swimmers using the beach are barefoot. 3mm was enough for me also - it's all I brought.
Unlike Bonaire since there's dive facilities at a lot of the sites, they've often put in a dock or steps if needed.
