Hello all. Had another weekend of diving today and have pictures again :)

Saturday I went to Easter Bommie for the first time. About 26m depth and lots of pretty reef to see, temp is down to 13C so getting chilly! Was an ok enough dive but we were hunting cray and did not find any :( Also you could feel surge at 26m and I got sea sick on my safety stop even though we did it at 7m cos of the rough seas.

Then we did Rye Pier. It is just covered in the shells of spider crabs that have molted and there was no fish or anything at all other than a few spider crabs. Might give that pier a miss for the next while as it was pretty gloomy underneath. Great vis at 15m though! Did Portsea Pier for a short dive to use up the rest of my air. Lasted only about 25m :p But was nice enough, saw a banjo shark, lots of puffers (are they breeding or something? the whole ocean is swarming with them at the moment...) and a tiny crab about the size of a 20c piece that attacked my finger to no avail.

Today we did South Channel Fort which is an island with a Fort on it built in 1880 and now a marine park. Drops to about 12m but was nicer at about 5m. Was bad viz, and there was an OW course so very silted up, current was so strong in places I nearly lost my mask at one point. Towards the end it cleared up considerably and we ended up with 10m of viz. :)

After we did a night dive at Blairegowie and it was *awesome*. I think Blairegowie is my all time favourite shore diving spot. Saw so many things there: dumpling squid, sea cucumbers, nudibranches, pleurobranches, a few stingarees, pipefish, heaps of puffers, colourful cowfish, a seahorse.

Some pictures attached from Sunday anyway, it is our second time out with the camera so we took 320 photos but they were mostly blurry! :) In order: cleaner shrimp, stingaree, dumpling squid school, sea horse we found asleep I guess, short tail face nudi, a puffer (I love these so much!), short tail Ceratosoma nudi, and a fish I can't ID.

How were other people's dives??

Diving cancelled yet again.

Your fish might be a Rock Flathead. Got any side on shots.

Good report and photos
No diving for me... was blown out.
I've finally sold my ill-fitting drysuit now as well, so i could be out of the water for up to 6 weeks!! :(

No I don't Kern. My buoyancy goes a bit all over the place when using the camera so usually I just manage one angle :p Started to get used to taking pics towards the end of the dive though, hopefully next time will be better :)

That sucks steve :( Can you hire out one occasionally? I was thinking of doing that in July/Aug sometimes when it gets to 8C on shore dives! Dunno how I'll cope in my wetsuit...

arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no diving for me again!!

i think its week 3 or 4 now and no diving - just been really busy with work or classes (uni) or stuff

i cant even say next saturday i will dive as i know im in the office - maybe sunday.. maybe

Sas - have you seen the pics of the Leafy at the pier yet???? woohooo - what a lucky find!

Yea I have! Awesome, I am going to go dive there soon to try and find them for myself :)

Hope you get out for a dive Sun then almitywife. I might have to take the week after next off :( Not looking forward to one weekend off, so 4 weeks would be really bad! :( Have my nav course this weekend to finish my AOW, but after that *both* my regular buddies are away (diving actually, lucky guys!). Anyone need a buddy then? :D

saspotato - i dunno about hiring... i sure as hell ain't using a wetsuit!! New made to measure suit should be here, hopefully they do it ASAP :D

almitywife - work on weekends? eww

Gads, I didn't get out either :( We did shark on Saturday and had awesome whale sharks, but I got stuck in the office so couldn't go!

I might try to sneak out tomorrow, but time is getting tight as I fly out on Friday for holidays :D :D :D

....almitywife - work on weekends? eww

FBT is now finished, end of tax year (group certificates) about to happen plus end of quater and prep for the last quarter of our financial year
