The ocean is quite warm now, around 83 degrees, and most are using thin full suits, shorties or northing. The cenotes are at 76-77 degrees -- a big difference! -- and a 3 mil would be the way to go. If you're taking a resort cavern tour, your time in the water will be fairly short. But if you're taking a course or a longer cave dive, you may need a little extra for the additional exposure to cold.
