Curacao Dive Week Activities
Hi all,
Curacao Dive Week is approaching, May 23-30. Cura?o Dive Festival The way the schedule reads is that your mornings and early afternoons are open for you to dive with the dive op of your choice. On Wednesday, May 27th there are 2 seminars at the Lodge Kura Hulanda here in Westpunt; at 4PM Trends in Dive Accidents with Joel Dovenbarger, at 5PM Belgian Britannic Expedition 2008 with Marc Slusney and Happy Hour at the Lodge at 7PM.
Also on Wednesday, The Dive Bus The Dive Bus - HOME has guided shore dives in Westpunt and Ocean Encounters West ..:: Ocean Encounters West ::.. is offering a 2 tank morning boat to Mushroom Forest and Watamula for $75, an afternoon one tank boat to Watamula for $45 with free air for a shore dive with either boat trip or your second tank free at Alice In Wonderland; the dive shop/Lodge's house reef.
We thought we'd make it easy and kinda fun for divers in the area and offer a meet and greet lunch for your surface interval. Easy and laid back; pizzas, salad, NA beverages and dessert for $20/35 guilders a person. (tax and service included) Stop by and see us between 11:00 and 1:30. OK, or earlier... We are just a third of a mile from Playa Kalki.
No matter where you are staying on the island, we highly encourage you to dive the west end sites. No car? The Dive Bus makes it easy and they are a ton of fun. Renting a car? If you have non diving traveling companions, it's a whole other Curacao to experience. From town turn at the rotary near the airport towards Westpunt. Drive 25 to 30 minutes, enjoy seeing how the landscape changes from brush to mountains and trees to cactus and barren north shore to the peaceful calm waters of the south shore coast. Turn right at Jaanchies (local food) and left behind the cemetery. We are the green house with Sol Food sign, a bit down the road is the parking lot above OEW/Alive In Wonderland and then the Lodge. If you pass Jaanchies and take a right the little road will take you to Westpunt Bay and the fishing boats. If you drive a bit further and pass the church, Playa Forti has a large parking lot at the other end of the bay. There is only air available at Playa Kalki but if you'd like to dive the whole bay it's only a couple of minutes drive to the other side. http://www.abcislands.se/img/Curacao_map_large.jpg Curamap, Online Roadmap for Curacao
Enjoy your dives! We hope to see you, even if it's just to stop and say "ScubaBoard".

Reason: I added activities to the title so other dive ops might post their specials or events. I believe one year Downtown Diving http://www.downtowndiving.com/ had a reef clean up and BBQ at Director's Bay

We have 2 nondiving guests this week, yeah.... there are some.... they were snorkeling at Playa Kalki yesterday with a pod of 30 dolphions almost within arms reach. It certainly made their vacation. Now to have them around tomorrow afternoon when I'M in the water!
We'll miss the Bus entourage from the East ;( And to think I frosted the brownies!
