Scuba Goop & Trident U Mark It Paint Gear Paint are same item

Has anyone else purchased "Scuba Goop" from Scuba.com? It is marketed as a unique product for marking your scuba gear, and it works well for that purpose. BUT ... if you look closely, you will see there is another label underneath the "Scuba Goop" label. Soak and rub a little, and you will see the original label: "Scribbles 3D Paint." Sounds like a craft store product, right? I went to Jo Ann Fabrics and asked if they had something called Scribbles 3D Paint. They had a whole rack of it. The exact same product. The difference? "Scuba Goop" costs $5.95. "Scribbles 3D Paint" costs $1.19.

Live and learn. Put "Scuba" on anything and watch the price multiply.

We are sorry to hear of your displeasure. This is not an item we purchased here and placed a label on. This is an item available to any dive shop through one of the common equipment manufacturers. They offer the private labeling program to any of their dealers. It is not uncommon at all to see variations in pricing on products from one retailer in one industry to another. Take all your little snaps and clips for instance. Walk into any Marine Supplier or Boating Supplier and you'll commonly find the exact same brass snaps and clips you can find in your local dive shop are often 2 to 3 times more in price.

For those of us who have that "craft store" handy and nearby, and know whether the product is the exact same product with the exact same properties and uses, and have the time to drop on by the store, then there ya go. Unfortunately we all don't have that store handy, which is why scuba retailers offer the product to their customers.

I would say the Arts and Crafts at Wal-Mart would have it. Everyone goes there. Hobby Lobby will have it as well. Spoken like a true salesperson.
