A man in his 50s died following what appears to have been a diving accident off Maunalua Bay in East Honolulu shortly before 7 a.m. Friday, officials said. The manwas brought to shore on a dive boat.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office identified a man who died while diving yesterday in Hawaii Kai as 56-year-old Lester Lee, of Honolulu.

An autopsy to determine Lee's cause of death will be done on Monday.

Lee had been diving in Maunalua Bay in water about 30 to 50 feet deep when he got into trouble, a Department of Emergency Services spokesman said.

He was brought to shore unconscious on a dive boat about 7 a.m. and died a short time later at a hyperbaric treatment center.

My thoughts go out to the family. Any word on what trouble he experienced?
