The U.S. Coast Guard helped rescue a diver in need of medical attention near Sanibel Island today, according to news partner WINK-TV.The Coast Guard said the 40 year-old woman had resurfaced too quickly after a dive and needed medical assistance.
Crews from Coast Guard Station at Ft. Myers Beach joined Lee County Fire Rescue EMS launched to meet with the dive vessel about 19 miles offshore. Rescue teams took the woman onto their vessel and brought her to shore, where an ambulance transported her to Gulf Coast Hospital in Ft. Myers.
Her name and condition have not been released.
