‘The Lone Ranger’ Crew Member Dies While Working on Set

‘The Lone Ranger,’ directed by Gore Verbinski, is currently in the midst of filming as photos of leads Johnny Depp(Tonto) and Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) in full costume and makeup leaking out left and right. However, recently the crew has experienced a tragedy on the Los Angeles set when one of the crew members died due to drowning on Friday.

TMZ reports that the man was a diver who was working on one of the water-filled tanks when something “went wrong” and wasn’t able to come up for air. Police officials revealed that filming wasn’t being completed at the time and that the man was either testing or cleaning the tank.
Another crew member called 911 to report a medical emergency once bubbles were no longer visibly emerging from his diving gear and the diver was pulled out. Unfortunately, the still-unnamed man was in full cardiac arrest by the time paramedics reached the location. EMTs attempted to resuscitate him while traveling by helicopter to a nearby hospital, but all attempts failed and the diver was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Walt Disney Studios had this to say:
“We regretfully confirm that a Lone Ranger crew member has passed away after being taken to a local hospital… Our full support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this terrible event.”
No further information, including the name of the crew member, has been released at this time. Check back soon for more details as they arise.

Lone Ranger Death -- Crew Member Had History With Jerry Bruckheimer | TMZ.com

"The Lone Ranger" crew member who died on set this week worked alongside mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp for years, TMZ has learned.

Close friends tell TMZ the victim's name is Mike Bridger -- a welder and water safety guy who had 20 plus years in the biz ... and one of his biggest breaks was working with Bruckheimer on the set of the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

We're told Bruckheimer respected his work so much ... he hired him for every single "Pirates" sequel and then for "Lone Ranger." Our sources say he also became close with Depp while working on those films.

Close friends of Mike tell TMZ ... the family does not blame the production company for his death, and believes he died of a heart attack.

TMZ broke the story, Mike was working in a large tank on "The Lone Ranger" set when he passed away. Law enforcement also believe his death was due to a heart attack. He was 48.

His funeral is currently being planned by family and friends.
