So many of these fatal stories seem to include "lost consciousness while diving" and we seldom know why. Cardiac events are suspected and rumored, but generally unproven at news time. I do know that if the diver does not test the tanks personally for CO, s/he is only the hope that the air is safe and won't yield the same outcome and report. I bet a lot of compressors are quietly serviced and tanks drained after such accidents. TG for affordable 21st century technology, so we can chose to avoid that risk...

Israel Hayom | Israeli woman dies in scuba diving accident off Aqaba coast
A 60-year-old Israeli woman vacationing in Jordan with her family drowned off the Aqaba shore over the weekend in what investigators described as a scuba diving accident. As of Sunday afternoon Israel time, the woman's name had yet to be released.
According to eyewitness accounts, the woman apparently lost consciousness while diving, although the reasons were still unclear.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Jordanian police opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
Israel's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that after an inquiry was performed, it would begin the process of transferring the body to Israel for burial.
Located just across the border from Eilat, Aqaba is situated on the Red Sea and is a tourist hub for scuba diving enthusiasts, with 25 different diving centers dispersed along the city's shoreline.
