Scuba diving German tourist found dead in waters off Turkey

Locals discovered the corpse of a man in a scuba suit in the waters off Finike’s Gökliman-Mendikli coast Sunday morning at 9.00am (6.00 am GMT). They immediately notified the authorities, and teams from the Finike Police Department and local Coast Guard were dispatched to the scene.

Brought on board the Coast Guard boat, the body was taken to Finike harbor and later to the Finike State Hospital’s morgue, where it was identified as German national Michel Johannes Walter Hörmann.

The authorities reported that Hörmann had arrived from Germany a week ago to vacation on a friend’s boat anchored at a local marina. The friend had arrived in Finike on Saturday but had been unable to find Hörmann and had begun searching for him.
