The diver was taking part in a shark encounter tour off the coast of Jupiter when he was bitten.
The diver works for the company that ran the tour.
The names of the diver and the company have not been released.

In the last 2 hours? Not that I am aware. It's really a non-event, and I am surprised it made the google news summaries, but with recent shark bites up the coast in the Carolinas making news - I guess it was a pickup story.

Luring in sharks/feeding sharks should make the list of "most dangerous jobs". Hope it's worth the money.

It is an activity that is actively promoted on this forum. Dangerous and or irresponsible diving practices are not allowed to be advocated on this forum. So this latest attack is not something anyone should be worried about.

Even though the activity is illegal in Florida, and the operator is located in Florida, this activity is legal because the boat goes hundreds of yards away from. The boundary.

Hope the injuries are not too severe.

It's true that this story is unlikely headline news but in Florida, especially the Jupiter, this is a hot button topic and likely to be discussed further.

Edit: I seen a thread in that forum has been started. It will be interesting to see if any more details come out among the local divers that have a very personal interest in Florida shark feeding...

Maybe they'll find THE shark, fine him/her & give it time for bad behavior.....
