A man has died in a diving accident at the West End of Rottnest Island this afternoon.
Desperate attempts to resuscitate the man proved unsuccessful after he became separated from his dive boat about 1.30pm.
It is understood the small centre console was carrying two other men when it ran aground near Cathedral Rocks just outside Eagle Bay.
The skipper of a nearby charter vessel noticed the men were in trouble and came to their aid.
He then spotted the missing diver floating face down in the water.
The skipper dragged him into his dinghy and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation while his deckhand fired a flare.
About 40 minutes later, firefighters, paramedics and police arrived but their resuscitation efforts were in vain.

Not clear whether this is a diving accident or a boating accident.

I know, not much in the story - aside from the fact that we can't believe what we read when there it, but it's a start. We have members over there, so let's hope we get more info...
