    6 Commercial Divers Dead

This is just a follow up post to the tragic loss of 6 Indian divers in Saturation.
In short, the vessel sank with 6 divers still in saturation on board.
There have been accidents like this repeatedly in the commercial diving world.
Most (if not all) are preventable - including this one.
The root cause is usually shortcuts being taken at a management level.
Shortcuts that save them time and money, but compromise the safety of the crew.
A lot of experienced divers notice these things before entering saturation.
The few who speak up get black listed by the contractors and their masters - the Oil Barons.
    And are then rendered unemployed.
Almost none of the thousands of divers who have been killed have died by their own negligence.
This is something that we are beginning to address by attempting a world wide Union of Commercial Divers.

This was a post on Longstreath - a commercial divers community ... it is worth thinking about. It was posted the day the vessel went down.

"Over the past couple years you've all watched and read reports on trapped miners in various parts of the word. But I will almost guarantee you won't read about the 6 commercial divers trapped inside a steel hyperbaric chamber attached to the vessel that sank beneath them in over 200' feet of water in Iran today. Remember to say a prayer for their safe return to surface when your pumping your gas/petrol on your way to work in morning!!!''

Shame. What a sad story. A terribly frightening way to go.. I can't even imagine going down that way. RIP

    A very sad tale indeed.

For those of you who wish an insight into saturation diving, I penned this story when I first joined the board...

    Of Saturation & V.M.C.

    Hope you enjoy the read!
