Coast Guard medevacs ailing diver - seattlepi.com
SEATTLE (AP) — The Coast Guard has medevaced an ailing diver from the San Juan Islands to a Seattle hospital.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Shearer says the Coast Guard was alerted Tuesday by a fishing vessel that a diver was suffering from decompression sickness after surfacing too quickly from a dive.
Both a Coast Guard boat and helicopter were dispatched. The 22-year-old man was picked up near Eastsound on Orcas Island and flown to Virginia Mason Hospital. He was not identified and his condition was not known Tuesday evening.
