Man dies scuba diving in Northland - National News | TVNZ
A police dive squad has begun searching the area where a scuba diver died in Northland yesterday.
Whangarei man Garry William Pitman, 56 of Whangarei, was diving with two other people off North Cape yesterday morning.
Police say Mr Pitman floated to the surface without his gear and attempts to revive him were unsuccesful.
The police dive squad is hoping to recover his missing dive gear.
A post mortem is being carried out today. The incident has been referred to the coroner.
